I’ve waited a little while to do an actual review of the latest product in my skin repertoire. I’m so pleased to be able to positively review Skinceuticals Phloretin CF.
Insert the obligatory comment here about “pay for post”. I am not paid or coerced or otherwise influenced by anyone to mention, review, or otherwise draw attention to anything that I don’t personally like and/or use myself. What you see in my reviews is pure interest on my part. This is why I have so many problems with the beauty industry as a whole, with its editorials and dubious relationships between editors, vendors and celebrities.
So onto my review of Skinceuticals Phloretin CF. This particular product is a broad-spectrum antioxidant treatment serum. I personally believe that antioxidants are an important preventive step in your anti-aging skincare regimen. However, this doesn’t mean that you should eschew the liberal, daily application of effective broad-spectrum sunscreen.
Here is some great info from Paula Begoun of Paula’s Choice on why antioxidants might be a good step in the battle against free radicals.
Phloretin CF is recommended for problematic, oily and normal skin types. In my experience with Phloretin CF, the first thing I noticed is that it feels lighter, is less oily and sticky than their other star antioxidant product, the CE Ferulic serum. Phloretin is a very powerful antioxidant, not only fighting free radicals, but research suggests, protecting DNA from mutations. This could mean the possible halting of skin cancers.
Both products contain Vitamin C is ascorbic acid form, but the concentration is higher in CE Ferulic serum. High concentrations of ascorbic acid can be irritating to skin, and the amount of C was decreased in Phloretin CF. There is also no Vitamin E in Phloretin CF. Skinceuticals CE Ferulic serum
appears to be best suited for dry, combination and normal skin.
Please note that there is an odd scent to Phloretin CF, almost like a bacon-y smell, no joke. It’s not overwhelming and noxious, and yet somehow reminds me of witch hazel. It dissipates quickly and absorbs nearly completely in my skin. Here’s some info on ferulic acid, which is the F in the CF.
Skinceuticals Phloretin CF serum is available through offices like your dermatologist, medical spa, Skinceuticals.com, as well as online skin product stores. I personally acquired mine through Amazon and also eBay. I tried the sample vials first and I like the results that I’ve been seeing over the last few weeks. My skin appears to be softer and in combination with other products that I am using, I’ve noticed less breakouts.
I’ll add more to my review and/or a part two after a couple of steady months of using this product. I’m currently using it under my DDF Enhancing Sun Protection SPF30 and wait 5 minutes in between application of both products. I might have a new favorite serum if all goes well.
