Wow, it’s been terribly long since I’ve updated. Booooo.
I’ve been in Portland for nearly a week and have been doing my best not to freeze to death. Since regaining my wimpy getting back to being used to the California weather temperance, it’s been difficult. Still working on that layering thing.
In pursuit of that, I went to this mall in Portland called the Lloyd Center, which reminded me of a cross between Fox Hills Mall in Culver City and Northridge Mall in Northridge. Slightly (or not so slightly) ghetto. With my uncertain budget, I’ve been inclined to hit up the clearance racks in all sorts of surprising places.
Layering just isn’t my forte, but I’ve been doing ok with my Helly Hansen thermals with black and white racing stripes on the sides and my American Apparel thigh highs.
I can’t remember the last time that I went into Marshall’s. The shoe section was great and I seriously considered a pair of rubber rainboots for $19.99. The polka dots were a bit of a deal breaker, though.
So after some perusal into the different sections of the store, I ended up with this jacket from Sessions. It’s a snowboarding jacket and is called the Lush Crosshatch and it features something called Recco.
RECCO® is an avalanche rescue system utilized by more than 600 rescue organizations worldwide to assist in the efficient location of burials. RECCO technology enables rapid directional pinpointing of a victim’s precise location using harmonic radar.

It’s not terribly fug, is warm, and is still a little roomy even in the XS. Retailed for $198, was on sale online for $94 something, yet I acquired it at Marshall’s for $49.99. Yay Portland with no tax.
Happy Thursday. Just so you know, there are going to be some rants about the cold in the near future. If I get caught in an avalanche, I’m relieved that my new jacket will save me!
