Ah, a proper update.

My site seems to be flatlining, kind of like me, here and there.

I went to the Sasquatch Festival 2010 at the Gorge Ampitheater with Katie, Adam, Ed, and later, Jonas. Here was the lineup for the entire festival:

Sasquatch Festival 2010

I couldn’t type all of that out.

I’m not going to give too much of a critique of this festival, dwelling on the negative aspects of it, as there were some, but instead, focus on what went right. I have zero experience in planning and pulling off mega festivals like this, so maybe I have no room to talk. However, I’m going to be writing a letter to Live Nation so that they can, shall we say, better IMPROVE their camping situation.

Adam and Katie shelled out for the Terrace camping, which was one step above the “Premier”. I admit that I’ve never been camping in my entire life and was reticent to do so for the first time at this festival. Proof positive that yes, I went camping!

Photos of my friends:

Ed’s birthday is the same as mine, June 7th, which is this MONDAY. Eeeeeeep!

I would have had a pic of Jonas, but he didn’t arrive until Sunday at dusk and it was so hard to get pics that weren’t in natural light.

Katie ended up leaving Sasquatch early, Sunday morning, because she didn’t feel well and I totally understand. Adam drove back with Jonas.

Some of the standout performances include LCD Soundsystem:

Broken Social Scene (their new album, Forgiveness Rock Record, is great):

Deadmau5 was something else. (Hat tip to Neal B.) I took this video.

This is another video I found on YouTube that someone else took at the show so that you can see the visuals better. In my decades of going to raves, the visuals for this thing were top tier, definitely. There were at least 5000 people at this show, it was the “late” show on Saturday at 11:30.

One last pic, it’s of me watching Broken Social Scene. I’ve got to maintain my goth pallor somehow, eh? Umbrellas and SPF 50-70 work just fine, thank you.

I’m going to conclude this entry by saying it’s a TO BE CONTINUED situation as I haven’t even gotten to Public Enemy or Massive Attack yet, the two acts that I was the most excited to see, by far. I’ve got a soft spot for Public Enemy always, as they’re my favorite “rap” group.

I am a patient girl, I wait, I wait, I wait.

Seems like the theme since returning from Los Angeles involves waiting and perhaps patience, above all else. This is such a challenge for the way my brain operates. It’s no secret that I am a Gemini, and the birthday is fast approaching. In my defense, I’m not as flighty as those typical goofy astrology things that you read in the likes of the tabloid rags make me out to be. I can maintain steady employment and a residence, well, maybe not the latter, but more about that in a moment.

Today finds me going to my next round of appointments, and today’s appointment is at the dermatologist to remove the “suspicious” mole on my arm. It’s just used with quotes at the moment. I still haven’t heard from the lady parts doctor yet about the results of the biopsy from last Monday. Again, patience. No mountains out of molehills. It’s just a slight challenge to fit in all of these things when you have as unreliable of a work schedule that I do.

Speaking of work, we had a fragrance training this morning, and it was very informative. I thought that there would be more fragrances involved, but BPI, the company, only produces Issey Miyake, Jean Paul Gaultier, and John Varvatos. I acquired a huge size of L’eau d’Issey and one of my personal favorites, MaDame by Jean Paul Gaultier. I love to smell great. I don’t mind the new John Varvatos for Men, and it’s called Artisan. I like it better than the original John Varvatos and also the Vintage.

Let me go back to what I mentioned earlier about not being able to maintain a residence. Me and Mr. Fontaine have lived in a gorgeous loft since last October. We had a very successful housewarming party and the whole shebang. While I was soaking in the tub last evening, I was marveling on how much I enjoy where I live, etc.

The feeling was short-lived, as we discovered that we have to move. Our landlord cannot afford his mortgage anymore, and I am very sad about the moving YET AGAIN. I’m not going to say how many times that I’ve had to move in the past couple of years as it’s ridiculous at this point. I’d just like to be settled, for goodness sakes, and not have to think about it for at least a year, if I am to remain here in Seattle.

Now begins the arduous process of finding another place. Rents seem to be down compared to last year, at least, and there are some semi-appealing options. However, I’m still going to be very sad about having to leave this place. I’ll miss the 15 ft. high ceilings, natural light in which to apply all of the colorful incarnations of my face, and the neighborhood. Maybe I’ll lose some of my hips though if Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream isn’t walking distance.

I’m going to go the farmers market later for some goodies, after I get back from the dermatologist. Maybe I’ll add more to this post later about goodies that I might acquire. In the meantime, have a great day.

I’ve got lots to talk about in a couple of future blogs.

Yet I have a confession: I just felt like the most incompetent nincompoop not too long ago. As in 45 mins. ago. You see, I felt proud of myself that I redid my website. However, I neglected to rename some directories properly when I changed the settings in the WordPress Admin panel. I almost couldn’t log back in and I felt so lame.

Capital L. Nevertheless, I took a few deep breaths and told myself to be calm while I troubleshooted it rationally. It didn’t hurt to back things up, and then I figured it out. A-HA. I should be sleeping right now, but I’ll continue. I’ve got lots more to add and tweak to this newer design and I would appreciate any helpful suggestions, comments, whathaveyou.

The other site design was ok for a couple of months, but I couldn’t help but think of the Cutline theme. A great theme, but I didn’t think that it would work for my nefarious intentions. While browsing the web at all of the recent template offerings, I also stumbled upon this guy’s site. Snark much?

Oh wow. Not for me. So I started tinkering around a couple of days ago and couldn’t believe that I’d never seen Refueled.net. I was searching for light templates, as in whites and light grays, not necessarily grid based. I like the way that Samantha of the world-famous Haute Macabre (and beyond) used the white and grays. By the way, those last two links are blogs that I visit regularly. You should, too.

I wanted something that was slightly like the old incarnation of this site, but was less magazine-like in visual and overall feel. I’ve also been constantly tweaking the CSS as well as figuring out exactly how powerful PHP is, with mixed results. Someday I vow to make a WordPress template from scratch.

Not that I’ve had time. It’s been a bit of a blur since coming back from L.A. Unfinished tasks, bills piling up, and the daily routines that are no longer suiting me. I’ve also had to deal with doctors appointments as of late for issues that I had not considered before, let’s say about a year ago. Know your own body, I cannot stress that enough. Be a healthy skeptic, get second and possibly third opinions. My paranoia gauge lies somewhere in the middle of it all and I don’t want to make mountains out of molehills, yet I don’t find it appealing to be nonchalant with my head buried deep beneath the sand.

AND WEAR YOUR SUNSCREEN, FOLKS. I only want to see tornup and old, stretched leather on bikers’ feet at Sturgis and not in the form of the skin on your face. Eeeeek.

“Reapply, unless you want to die!” I rhymed today, lucky me. Hope that you’re having a great Memorial Day weekend.

***edited to add: I’ve extended my latest GIVEAWAY throughout the month of June, especially since I might be adding even MORE mascara to the already amazing loot up for grabs.***
